FEBRUARY
2018
Celeste Rivas, an 8th grader at MacArthur Intermediate, has been selected as the recipient of the "Athlete of the Month Award" for February 2018.
Please join me in welcoming February's athlete of the month, Celeste Rivas. Athlete of the month is more than just being the fastest runner. It is partly about stepping up when the need should arise. When a new idea is introduced, it's those who volunteer and help start it off. When a direct reminder needs to go out to someone, it is about carrying the message. And when there is a leader or two missing, it's about filling in and helping lead. It is a hard task to do and should be taken in steps. Once again congratulations Celeste!

JANUARY
2018
Jacob Carlos, an 8th grader at MacArthur Intermediate, has been selected as the recipient of the "Athlete of the Month Award" for January 2018.
Jacob Carlos, better known as, “JC” is a great runner, he is dedicated to RunStrong and has the will to go far beyond his limits. He has the strength to run through the pain and holds that dedication to train more to overcome that pain. I would like to say he is the underdog of the team, when it comes down to going all in. However, the great thing about JC is that he will go against the odds and be the best he can be. I am proud to name him athlete of the month for January, he earned it and deserves it!!

DECEMBER
2017
Priscilla Vanbuskirk, a 7th grader at MacArthur Intermediate, has been selected as the recipient of the "Athlete of the Month Award" for December 2017.
Priscilla congratulations on being the Athlete of the Month for December! Priscilla is an outstanding leader when it comes to being a RunStrong student-athlete. She works hard on her studies, loves her family, and is all about being a person that wants to get the most out of everything she is involved in. Personally, I have seen Priscilla work harder and harder in every run. "No days off," can be her motto. She understands that if you give your best everyday, eventually it will pay off in the long run. What I also admire about Priscilla is her discipline and commitment to make MacArthur great. She is in ASB and in a soccer club, and manages to balance it all together. Even though it may be tiring at times, like waking up to run, being focused on ASB projects and soccer games, she has decided that it is all worth her time and energy. Leading is what she likes to do, she leads herself first, then works on helping others to do the same through her example. WOW! Great job Priscilla!!

NOVEMBER
2017
Valerie Martinez, a 6th grader at MacArthur Intermediate, has been selected as the recipient of the "Athlete of the Month Award" for November 2017.
Congratulations Valerie Martinez for being the November Runstrong athlete of the month. Runstrong had a rather weird start this year, where only those who were in it in the past were aloud to run. But this did not stop Valerie. She came to the morning practices and was able to keep together with the group, despite the fact that everyone else had had experience in the program before. After having put in all the work, she came to the Dino Dash and really proved that she deserved her spot on the team, and in this family. Once again congratulations to Valerie.
